Diana Saavedra NP, APRN

About Me

Diana Saavedra is a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She earned her Masters Degree in Nursing at the Florida International University. A psychiatric nurse practitioner is a nurse practitioner who specializes in mental health care, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. Prescribing medication and offering psychotherapy are both within the scope of care that a psychiatric nurse practitioner can provide, whether they are practicing under a doctor or on their own. They work with individuals, families, groups, and communities assessing mental health needs, diagnosing mental illness and prescribing appropriate medication. Some Psych NPs are also trained to provide clients with psychotherapy.

Mrs. Saavedra has a past diverse clinical experience working with clients across the lifespan in multiple settings such as hospitals, community mental health clinics, intensive outpatient programs, residential treatment facilities, alternative school placements, and treatment homes.

Her approach to patient care is holistic and patient-centered. She understands that patients are more than just a diagnosis or set of symptoms, and that in order to better serve them, she needs to address both medical and psychosocial factors. For that reason, she strongly believes in a collaborative team approach to care. She often works with her client’s therapist or primary care provider to discuss and formulate an individualized treatment plan that best addresses the unique needs of each individual client. Mrs. Saavedra understands that each case is unique and that not all clients require medication but when it is needed, he makes sure to follow evidence-based guidelines to ensure the treatment is safe and effective.
